Earth and Spirit Singers - Fall '11 Schedule of Events

          Led by composer/guitarist Jim Scott, The Earth and Spirit Singers welcomes singers of any age and experience.  Learning from music and by ear, the chorus sings many styles of music celebrating ideals of ecology, peace and world community.  Four special themed “Songfest” evenings start Tues. Sep 13th and are open to all interested singers.

The regular season of fourteen rehearsals will begin October 11, and run to Jan 24, 2011. Tues. Sept. 13, 11 - A Pete Seeger Songfest
Open sing for all, 7PM at First Unitarian Church, 90 Main St. Worcester
The Earth and Spirit Singers will launch their fall season with four Songfest evenings, Tuesdays 7-9 PM.  We’ll honor Pete Seeger singing many of his well-loved songs such as If I Had a Hammer, Turn, Turn, Turn, Where Have All the Flowers Gone and many others. Singers will get an example of some of the repertoire for the year.  All interested singers welcome, no experience necessary.  A suggested donation of $5 to $10 sliding scale for the evening is requested. 

Tues. Sept. 20, 11 - A Peace Songfest
Open sing for all, 7PM at First Unitarian Church, 90 Main St. Worcester

          The Earth and Spirit Singers offer their second Songfest evening, with a
celebration of peace, justice and world community in song. 
A suggested donation of $5 to $10 sliding scale for the evening is requested.

Tuesday, Sept. 27, 11 - A Harvest Songfest
Open sing for all, 7PM at First Unitarian Church, 90 Main St. Worcester
Lend your voice to the chorus, celebrating earth and nature giving thanks for the harvest with a nod to impending winter and turning of the seasons. We’ll sing for the beautiful, amazing and fragile environment on our small planet.
A suggested donation of $5 to $10 sliding scale for the evening is requested.

Tues. Oct. 4, 11 - A Labor and Civil Rights Songfest
Open sing for all, 7PM at First Unitarian Church 90 Main St Worcester
          Songs of working people from Joe Hill’s Pie in the Sky, to Woody Guthrie to contemporary writers will be our celebration for the evening.  Come and sing and learn about the songs of change that mobilized farm workers, miners, the civil rights movement and carried an optimistic vision for America.  All are welcome. No experience necessary. 
A suggested donation of $5 to $10 sliding scale for the evening is requested.
