Nancy Rumbel, Paul Winter Consort veteran and original member
of Radiance, is an elegant, intuitive, lyrical improvisor
on oboe, English horn, and ocarinas. For the past 15 years she has
been performing with guitarist Eric Tingstad, whom she met at a music
festival in the Pacific Northwest. Between them they have recorded
12 albums and 3 solo releases and have travelled all over the country
delighting audiences in diverse and unusual venues.

Eugene Friesen, Grammy Award-winning Paul Winter Consort veteran
and original member of Radiance, is a cello master. A prolific
composer, he has created musical settings for the poetry of Rumi, Carl
Sandburg, and Wendell Berry; numerous scores for documentary films; and
three albums of original music. In 1992 he founded the acoustic jazz group Trio
Globo with Howard Levy and Glen Velez, and he continues to perform
both with stellar international talent as well as solo. As "Celloman," he
uses masked characters, stories, comedy, and the recorded "songs" of humpbacked
whales to inspire and educate musical audiences of all ages. Eugene is
on the faculty of Berkelee College of Music in Boston and lives in Vermont
with his wife and children.

Cellist David
Darling is another Paul Winter Consort veteran and original member
of Radiance. He has produced five solo albums and performed
with Bobby McFerrin, Spyro Gyra, the Consort, Arlo Guthrie, Peter Kater
and R. Carlos Nakai, collaborated on the musical scores for works by
European film makers Jean-Luc Godard and Wim Wenders. Darling is
a classically trained cellist who served as orchestra conductor and
faculty
cellist at Western Kentucky University before joining the Consort in
1969. Since then he has dedicated himself to a solo performing and
recording career, and to teaching music and improvisation. In 1986
he co-founded Music
for People, a non-profit educational network that teaches and
fosters improvisation and self-expression through workshops, trainings,
and special
events for thousands of people. For the past 10 years, Darling has
also worked for Young Audiences Inc., a National Medal of the Arts
award-winning
organization dedicated to enriching children's lives by providing in-school
programs in the form of classroom workshops, artists' residences and
performance programs.
