Pete Seeger was born 100 years ago this May 3rd. I knew Pete for many years and collaborated on various projects with him. I try to be sure to say I’m literally one of thousands of musicians who played with Pete at some time or other. So, I might second-guess, why I should be doing such a program? I have to say it’s not only fun but pretty exhilarating singing Pete’s hits, If I Had a Hammer, Turn, Turn, Turn, Where Have All the Flowers Gone and so many others in the context of celebrating Pete’s long career. Along with some history we raise our voices for the causes he championed and recognize the great contributions to our American heritage Pete made in his 94 years of life.
