Gather the Spirit – CD

A spiritual album that appeals to non-“religious” listeners. The singer-songwriter-guitarist’s songs get the full choral treatment with creative arrangements. A poignant philosophy of ecology, peace and healing emerge from thoughtful lyrics.  Some of Jim’s most loved hymns, anthems and songs of a more meditative quality are recorded here with Matt Johnsen and the MSTG Choir. Jim calls this collection his “spiritual philosophy in song,” with six of his songs that are included in the UU Hymnbooks. They range from a capella to gospel and contemporary styles. Jim sings a solo part of most of the songs and accompanies on guitar with piano, bass and drums rhythm section on some. The “Master Singers to Go” (MSTG) is a 16 member ensemble of singers who are part of the larger Master Singers of Worcester MA.

All the choir arrangements on the CD are available, some both as SATB with solo and for SATB choir alone.
